Dad's Army Appreciation Society

I have been a member of the Dad's Army Appreciation Society (DAAS) for over six years now. Whilst being a member I have found the regular newsletter "Permission To Speak Sir" most informative. This features interviews, reviews and location reports. There is also a society produced "Dad's Army Companion " which is also highly recommended for lots of interesting facts about the series.

The highlight of being in the Appreciation Society for me was that I was able to attend the 30th Anniversary celebrations at the Oval Cricket Ground, London in 1998.

There I met many actors who appeared in the series including Bill Pertwee (ARP Warden Hodges) - who happens to be the president of the DAAS, Clive Dunn (Lance Corporal Jones), Ian Lavender (Private Pike) and Pamela Cundell (Mrs Fox).

It was a day I will never forget and it was wonderful to say thank you to some of the actors who have made me laugh so much since I was a child!
